Bat Training Event 2019

Bat Training Session

We are holding this year’s annual EcoNorth bat training session on Tuesday 26th March at Morpeth Riverside!

The training will be starting at 20:00 and we hope to finish by 22:30.

During our training session we will be walking along the River Wansbeck and within Carlisle Park with bat detectors so you should get a chance to hear a range of bats at the start of the season.

We will be running through basic bat identification and survey methodology, including identifying potential bat roosting features of buildings and trees, vantage point and transect surveys. We will also show you how to use EcoNorth’s recording forms and bat recording equipment, with a Q&A session to finish.

Free parking on site at NE61 1PR after 5pm, car sharing recommended. Within walking distance from Morpeth train station and bus station.

Please note that it is a requirement that new surveyors attend the training event. If you are interested in attending or undertaking bat surveys for EcoNorth this season, get in touch with our Survey Organiser Laura Parsons at
