Newcastle International Airport Water and Air Quality Monitoring

Newcastle International Airport Water and Air Quality Monitoring, Air Quality, Water Quality, Air Port

Newcastle International Airport Limited (NIAL) has an environmental responsibility and remit to monitor their water and air quality discharges. This is particularly important during the winter time when de-icing of the aircraft and runway is required. The airport is surrounded by ecologically sensitive watercourses and regular monitoring of controlled discharges is necessary to ensure that compliance with discharge regulations is maintained.

Since 2015, EcoNorth has been undertaking point and passive sampling on behalf of NIAL as an independent organisation. Specifically, the monitoring works include collecting water samples from predetermined drainage points and the monthly deployment of nitrous oxide sample tubes, all within and adjacent to the airport footprint. All samples are subsequently issued to specific laboratories for testing and analysis, with all results compiled by EcoNorth and issued to NIAL. Our staff have an excellent track record in delivering work to a high standard, whilst demonstrating professionalism and impartiality.

EcoNorth stepped forward to commit to these ongoing works following the withdrawal of a previous supplier; our flexibility and speed of assistance was greatly appreciated by the client as the monitoring schedule is fixed and results required in real time to prevent incidence of pollution. EcoNorth’s ongoing relationship with NIAL is testament to the high level of service we provide to a flagship company in our area.
