Trex Ecology Ltd

EcoNorth has worked with Trex Ecology Ltd across a number of projects since 2020, wherever specialist support has been required in relation to aquatic ecology and the freshwater environment.

The team at Trex Ecology is highly experienced in designing and implementing surveys for a range of ecological receptors in freshwater environments. These include invertebrates, pearl mussel, beaver, fish and their relevant habitats. Their support has been crucial on a number of projects where EcoNorth has sought to provide clients with a complete suite of both terrestrial and aquatic ecological surveys and assessments. Trex Ecology has also collaborated with EcoNorth on the design and implementation of several mitigation packages, including fish rescue operations with relation to in-stream construction and maintenance works.

Most recently, Trex Ecology have been supporting EcoNorth in the completion of freshwater invertebrate surveys and community analyses within the Tweed Catchment in North Northumberland, whilst EcoNorth has been completing aquatic macrophyte, terrestrial vegetation and terrestrial invertebrate (pitfall trapping specifically targeting Coleoptera) surveys. The works have been ongoing since 2020, and are designed to gather baseline data ahead of proposed restoration works in this reach, which will involve the removal of existing in-stream infrastructure.
