EcoNorth’s 2025 Bat Training Event

Bat

EcoNorth’s 2025 bat training event is being held on Tuesday 6 May. Please feel free to come along if you are new to surveying and would like to get ahead of the game and meet some of the EcoNorth team, or are a returning surveyor who would like to get back up to speed.

The bat training session will start at around 20:15hrs and run to approximately 22:00hrs. It will take place at Plessey Woods Country Park which is located near Hartford Bridge, off the A192, mid-way between Bedlington and Cramlington and about five miles south of Morpeth. The meeting location will be the main entrance to the park. There is plenty of parking available here, costing £4.50 for over two hours.

The EcoNorth team will run through basic bat identification and survey methodology. We will show all attendees how to use EcoNorth’s recording forms and bat recording equipment, and answer any questions that are raised. We will also walk around the park with bat detectors, so attendees should get a chance to hear a number of bat species at the start of the season.

We politely request that if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or another infectious disease, please do not attend on this occasion.

If you are interested in undertaking bat surveys for EcoNorth this season, please contact our Survey Organiser, Sam Graham, at sam.graham@econorth.co.uk.
