EcoNorth’s Bake Off Competition For Anti-Slavery Day 2022

Erin and Caitlin Thompson - EcoNorth's Star Bakers 2022

Anti-Slavery Day is an annual event, held on Tuesday 18 October, to raise awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking, and to encourage companies and individuals to address this serious problem.

EcoNorth has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. As an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to creating and ensuring a non-discriminatory and respectful working environment for our staff, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains, in line with our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Today, we held an Anti-Slavery Day themed Bake Off Competition. All staff were invited to participate, along with our families and friends. A range of baked goods were created and delivered to our office in Cramlington. Head Judge, Mark Fletcher, had the enviable task of tasting all the entries and choosing the competition winner.

EcoNorth’s Star Baker trophy for Anti-Slavery Day 2022 has been awarded to Erin and Caitlin, John Thompson’s wonderfully creative daughters, for their delicious double chocolate chip cookies.
