EcoNorth’s 2026 bat training event is being held on Tuesday 21 April. Please feel free to come along if you are new to surveying and would like to get ahead of the game and meet some of the EcoNorth team, or are a returning surveyor who would like to get back up to speed.

The bat training session will start at around 19:45hrs and run to approximately 22:00hrs in Carlisle Park, Morpeth. The meeting location will be Elliott Footbridge by Morpeth Leisure Centre, New Market, Morpeth, ME61 1PR.

There is plenty of parking available at the Newmarkest East Car Park, Morpeth, NE61 1LN (free after 6pm).

The EcoNorth team will run through basic bat identification and survey methodology. We will show all attendees how to use EcoNorth’s recording forms and bat recording equipment, and answer any questions that are raised. We will also walk around the park with bat detectors, so attendees should get a chance to hear a number of bat species at the start of the season.

We politely request that if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or another infectious disease, please do not attend on this occasion.

If you are interested in undertaking bat surveys for EcoNorth this season, please contact our Survey Organiser, Ellesse Janda, at ellesse.janda@econorth.co.uk.
